Millions of tourists visit the Hawaiian island of Maui each year, which is no surprise, considering the splendor of the island. Furthermore, there are so many fun things to do in Maui that it continues to be a top tourist destination year in and year out. Let’s look at just a few of the ways you can tour the incredible island of Maui.
ATV Adventure Tours
If you like to get wet and muddy, this is a fun way to tour Maui. Take a two-seated dune buggy out for a spin through 600 acres of tight turns, rocky roads, mud puddles, and a stream. Kahoma Ranch ATV Adventures offers tourists the chance to get down and dirty and commune with the island in a unique way. Drivers must first go through an orientation session and drive a proficiency course to make sure they can master the vehicle and the terrain.
There are tour guides that will acquaint you with the plants and the culture and you will have refreshments along the way also. There are rest stops and photographers so you can capture the experience as well. This is a guided tour and participants are expected to follow the guides at all times. The tour lasts two and a half hours and no smoking is allowed the entire time. For some, it is easily the biggest thrill on the island of Maui and customers come back again and again for the adventure and the splendor of the land.
Haleakala Bike Tours
Peer into the giant crater left by the volcano Haleakala and then ride the 28 miles down the slope of the dormant volcano. Haleakala is the world’s largest dormant volcano and truly a sight to behold. While there are several tours available, the one at sunrise is the most popular so you will need to book your tour in advance. The tour includes a cruiser bike, all the safety equipment, and a continental breakfast. Haleakala’s summit is the highest point on the island of Maui and you’ll see breathtaking sights all along your journey. You can choose from guided or self-guided tours on your mountain bike adventure. Riders must be at least 12 years old and all riders should be experienced in mountain biking.
Maui Helicopter Tours
If you would rather view Haleakala from the comfort of a state of the art helicopter seat, then you will enjoy taking a Maui helicopter tour. Not only will you fly to the top of the dormant volcano, you’ll see waterfalls, coastlines that seem to go on forever, and a rain forest. By taking a helicopter tour, you’ll be able to see parts of Maui that are inaccessible via other methods and you’ll see the kind of beauty that many of us have only seen in movies.
